1. Who we are
Koko is provided by Prism Labs LLC ("Prism Labs," "Koko," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled by the Koko iOS application (the "App") and the website at getkoko.app (the "Website").

2. Information handled by the App
We do not collect App data
The App is designed to perform speech recognition, conversation generation, voice playback, and progress tracking locally on your iPhone. Prism Labs does not receive, collect, or store:
- voice recordings or microphone audio;
- speech transcripts, prompts, or generated conversations;
- practice history, vocabulary, scores, streaks, or progress;
- contacts, precise location, photos, or advertising identifiers;
- an App account, profile, or sign-in credentials; or
- App usage analytics, tracking data, or advertising data.
Information you create in the App remains under the App's local storage on your device. We cannot access, recover, or provide a copy of that information because it is not transmitted to us.
Microphone permission
Koko requests microphone access so you can practice speaking. Audio is processed on-device for the features you choose to use. You can change microphone access at any time in iOS Settings.
App Store Connect information
Apple independently processes information when you download or use an app through the App Store. Apple may provide Prism Labs with aggregated or de-identified sales, download, performance, and diagnostic reports through App Store Connect, depending on Apple's systems and your device settings. We do not use those reports to identify you, and they do not include your Koko audio or conversations. Apple's handling of information is governed by its own privacy policy.
3. Information handled by the Website
The Website is not the Koko App. The following limited processing applies when you visit the Website or join the waitlist.
Information you provide
If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address, the date and time of signup, and a source label indicating that the signup came from the Website. We use this information to manage the waitlist and send Koko launch or availability updates. You can unsubscribe or request deletion at any time by emailing us.
Website analytics
We use PostHog to understand Website visits and interactions, diagnose errors, and measure waitlist activity. This may involve page views, button interactions, referring pages, browser and device details, approximate location derived from an IP address, session identifiers, and Website errors. PostHog may use cookies or local storage. If you submit the waitlist form, the analytics record may be associated with the email address you provided.
Security and hosting information
Cloudflare Turnstile processes technical information such as IP address, browser, and device signals to protect the waitlist from abuse. Vercel hosts the Website and may process standard request and security logs. Supabase stores waitlist submissions on our behalf.
4. How we use Website information
We use Website information only to:
- operate and secure the Website and waitlist;
- send requested launch and availability communications;
- understand Website performance and improve the Website;
- detect fraud, abuse, and technical problems; and
- comply with law and protect our legal rights.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the Website does not display third-party advertising.
5. Service providers and disclosures
We disclose Website information only as needed to providers that help us operate the Website, including PostHog for analytics, Supabase for waitlist storage, Cloudflare for bot protection, and Vercel for hosting. These providers process information under their own terms and our service arrangements.
We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, protect rights or safety, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets. If a business transfer occurs, this policy will continue to apply unless you are notified otherwise.
6. Retention and deletion
The App's local information remains on your device until you remove it through the App or delete the App. Choosing "Delete App" in iOS removes the App's local container from that device; choosing "Offload App" may preserve local documents and data. Device backups are managed by Apple and your iOS settings.
We retain waitlist emails until they are no longer needed for Koko launch communications or until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Website analytics and security records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, subject to provider settings, legal obligations, and legitimate security needs.
7. Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete Website personal information, or withdraw from waitlist communications, by emailing hey@getkoko.app. We may need to verify your request. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights and the right to appeal a decision regarding a request. You may also control cookies through your browser and App permissions through iOS Settings.
8. Children's privacy
The App does not transmit personal information to Prism Labs. The Website waitlist is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not submit an email address. If you believe a child has provided information through the Website, contact us so we can delete it.
9. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for Website information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Website providers may process information in the United States and other countries where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Koko or applicable law changes. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
